Hello World and blogging universe. As a Seattle area web designer and print designer, I'm finally coming around to all of this technology. Yes, I resisted it, but am now in a better understanding on how blogging and tweeting can benefit your site. My business is mostly referral based so I haven't had the need to blog or tweet, but the time has come.
OK, back to the introduction. I'll make this brief and extrapolate in future blogs. I graduated from the Art Institute of Seattle in 1987 back when the little gray box Macs with the 4x4 screen was introduced to only the best students in class. I worked in Seattle for a couple of years after graduation then moved to New York City and entered a world of endless possibilities. Well, even in New York, there's a niche, which is publishing so I tinkered in that for many years before eventually getting back to working for design firms with amazing people like Okey Nestor. I ended up having enough of the long hours, the cold winters, the smells and not even having a distant aunt I could visit on the holidays. After a few moves, ended up back in Seattle and have been working for myself since 2000.
My love of the web and web design is great. It's so forgiving and easily manipulated compared to the cast in stone world of print. I'm always learning and hope to document my journey here.
As I say, my business has been mostly referral based, so I'm excited to be entering this world and building a community here. To check out my portfolio of work, both print and web design, please visit http://www.pbrdesign.com. There you'll find branding, stationary, brochure design, web design and soon, blog design. Don't hesitate to call or connect with me if you are in need of design services. The one comment I get often is my customer service and easy working style. Hey, that's why I work for myself. I prefer not to spend my day in meetings and dealing with beaurocracies that get in the way of rolling up your sleeves and doing great work.
Along with a comfortable working style, my design tastes range from simple and easily navigated sites (http://www.authentic-home.com, http://www.seabrookdentallab.com, http://www.bellevuepodiatric.com, http://www.edgework.info, http://www.srcpt.com, http://www.zookbinders.com) to the more boutique/unique small business site (http://www.cynthiachomos.com, http://www.nesthomeandgifts.com). As you can see, I do have a love for interior designers, contractors and the home improvement industry. Something that melds interest in interiors and the architecture of site design. By the way, I drew floor plans as a child instead of ponies and princesses.
Please see more of my work and hopefully, we'll get to know each other and maybe even work together on a great collaboration, because that's how I view my partnerships with my clients and many are now friends!
